What is AmpCamp?
AMP CAMP is an innovative summer modern band camp at the University of Northern Iowa School of Music.
Who can attend AmpCamp?
Amp Camp is a music camp for ALL CHILDREN, ages 9-19. No previous musical experience needed. We invite students of all abilities.
What instruments do the students learn?
All students will learn the basics of:
- Guitar
- Bass
- Drum set
- Keyboard
- Orba
- Ukulele
- Singing/rapping
Students will take classes on the instrument they want to focus more on.
In addition, everyone learns some basic dance moves to use on a stage.

Do the students need to bring their own instruments or does AmpCamp provide instruments?
Registration includes use of all AmpCamp instruments. AmpCamp provides ALL INSTRUMENTS for the students at no added cost. Everyone is welcome to bring their own instrument to play.

Is the camp inclusive and welcoming to students with special needs?Yes! At AmpCamp, our goal is to make the camp as inclusive as possible. That means that students of ALL abilities are welcome to come enjoy making music they love. AmpCamp uses assistive technology so that students of all abilities can make music together.

What's the camp schedule like? |
Except for Sunday, the rest of the week is 9:00 AM - 4:00 PM
Students can come as early as 8:00 am to practice or jam with friends.
Students can stay as late as 5:00 pm to practice or jam with friends.
At check-in, parents will notify camp staff if students are staying late to practice.

- Instruction on all instruments
- Instruments are provided. But campers can bring their own

Is this a Day or Overnight Camp?
It's both! Camper can register as a resident (overnight) or commuter (day only).
The camp begins Sunday at 1:00 PM and ends Thursday night at the River Place Plaza in downtown Cedar Falls, IA.
